This Veteran’s day, let’s take a moment to thank the members of our armed forces for all that they’ve done for us– both abroad and back in the states! Take Dr. Robert Kasper, for instance. As a veteran of World War II, Dr. Kasper flew in the Air Corps (before there was an air force!) and came back to the States to become a dentist.

Dr. Kasper, like many of the veterans who came back to start their lives in peacetime America, was looking for an occupation that would let him show initiative and give back to the community. Of Dentistry, he says “You’re your own boss. That appealed to me.” Owning his own dental practice in Detroit from graduating college until retiring in 1984, we can see that Dr. Kasper truly enjoyed the dental health profession!

Celebrate Veteran’s Day like we do in Austin!

Here in Austin, TX, we have a unique opportunity to celebrate the veterans that help make America great. If you or your family are looking for a way to show your appreciation, why not take look at some of the great local events in our gorgeous town? With a forecast in the mid-seventies for the holiday weekend, this is a great time to head out and see what Austin, Texas area has to offer!

Take the nearby San Marcos Veteran’s Day Parade, for instance! A long-standing tradition for the area, the San Marcos Veteran’s Day Parade features the best of what the area has to offer in the form of “Veterans groups, military organizations, civic clubs, bands, drill teams, public officials, equestrians, youth teams, [and] classic vehicles.” An excellent chance to come out to see talented people and support our troops! As an added bonus, there’s a free biscuits and gravy breakfast on the courthouse lawn. The event starts at 8:30 on Saturday November 11th, so don’t be late!

For an interesting change of pace, why not check out the Veterans of Lampasas County exhibit at the Lampasas County Museum? The museum, at 303 S. Western Ave. in nearby Lampasas, Texas, offers a collection of information and artifacts donated by, and concerning local area veterans. The exhibit runs from Friday, November 10th to Saturday, November 18th. Make sure to stop by to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Take a look at the best of what our neighborhoods have to offer!

Finally, no list of Austin area events would be complete without the Georgetown Veteran’s Day Ceremony! The event–which, by the way, is open to the public–has seating for seven-hundred, and additional availability for a lovely seat beneath the trees to watch the ceremony. Starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday, the ceremony is a great way to spend your Veteran’s Day!

No matter what you and your family decide to do this Veteran’s Day, we hope you spend the holiday weekend spending time with your loved ones, grateful for everything we have the opportunity to enjoy. And remember, if you’re in the Austin area, contact us after the holiday to schedule a check-up. We’d love to see you!
