Tips for a Great Summer Wedding

wedding photo Every year roughly 2.3 million people get married in the United States. Around 10% of those weddings take place in June which is one of the most popular months for weddings. June’s popularity as a month for weddings stems back all the way to the time of the Romans. Juno, a Roman goddess who was associated with marriage and childbirth, was celebrated on June 1st. Victorians also considered June an ideal time for weddings due to the abundance of flowers which not only served as great decoration, but also helped mask the smell of body odor. If you are one of the roughly 230,000 people who are planning a wedding this June, we have compiled a few tips to help make your wedding one to remember.

Keep Cool

This may seem like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how many people seem to get caught up in the details of the wedding and forget the common sense stuff. You don’t want your guests to remember your wedding as the one where everyone roasted in the hot Texas sun. If you are outdoors try to keep things in the shade, whether it is natural (think trees) or from tents. This will also help keep seating cool as well (anyone that has sat on a hot metal chair knows it’s not the best sensation). Encourage your guests to dress coolly as well, white linens look great at a beach wedding, and you may want to have your wedding party avoid suits and heavy formal wear.

Think About Food

You do not want your guests to get sick eating shrimp cocktail that has been sitting in the hot sun. Make sure that you are storing meats, seafood, and cheeses in supercooled containers. You may want to consider even using ice arrangements which have the added bonus of looking amazing. Your wedding cake should also be stored in a cold place until it is time for cake as bugs will be attracted to the sweet frosting. If you are planning on having drinks consider having a few frozen options to help with the heat.

Look Your Best

Do you know what helps that white wedding dress really pop? Pearly white teeth of course! A great smile can make you feel better, and will make all of your pictures look better as well. Be careful though! Not all whitening products are the same and some at home whitening kits can be dangerous. It is best to leave teeth whitening to a dentist that you can trust. Keep in mind that teeth whitening can take several weeks, so you don’t want to wait until last minute.
